Chapter 10

Babylon, Babylon is Fallen, is Fallen

Though it is hardly recognizable now, even today the wilderness so blessed by God, is still fulfilling her prophetic role.   The church is nourished, thrives and sends out the Word of God unto salvation into the world as never before.  We can be thankful to God there is still freedom here to worship God in Spirit and in Truth.  The great commission of Jesus to preach, publish the Gospel all over the world is being carried out by a great company.

Psalm 68:11

“The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.”

People from other countries have part in this, most certainly, but America provides the greatest evangelical effort.  God abundantly blessed America.  We must give the glory to God since we are not the source of understanding and knowledge.  The United States became the richest and most powerful country in history under the hand of God Almighty.  But from these divinely guided and prepared beginnings, she has slowly departed, even though the church still thrives within her boarders.

Revelation 17:3-5

“So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.  And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:  And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

This great wilderness is seen as a richly robed woman sitting upon the anti-christ beast.  This is quite a change from her humble beginnings.  Along with her jewels and precious stones she possesses a golden cup.  This is full of abominations for she has been as a harlot among nations, in God’s sight.

The Lord did not reveal this understanding at one time.  He was gentle while revealing this insight.  It has been more than twelve years since beginning the study.  The results of America’s departure were not yet readily visible.  He gave this understanding in glimpses.  The Lord revealed that the Babylon-type sins were not confined to America only.  He revealed this fact as a comfort.  But then as He gave further understanding, I realized that the truth could not be denied.  Reluctance to accept this fact could not change the truth.  We are set free by repenting of our sins.  God gave the burden to pray for repentance in the American church.   He then revealed:

Jeremiah 51:7-9

“Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD'S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.  We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed:  forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.”

Some of these prophecies on Babylon pertain to the ancient Babylon and some of this one to the one of the last years.  Some may even apply to both the Babylon of the first kingdom and the one of the end time.  This prophecy of Jeremiah concerning the golden cup is for this Babylon.  The golden cup is a scepter of God, held in His hand.  It need not have been filled with the ‘abominations and filthiness of her fornication’.

But as we see the golden cup, it is no longer in the Lord’s hand.  The scepter is passed from the hand of God to Babylon’s hand.  She filled it with her sins.

For a time Babylon plays a dual role in prophecy.  As she diminishes her first role of the wilderness prepared of God as a refuge for His church, the scepter of power passes into her hand.  Her power and influence among the world rulers increases and she is catapulted to a position above the power of anti-christ in the world at her prime.

Among her people the church, the Body of Christ, still dwells in the Word of God.  The influence of the Bible on the government of Babylon is of sufficient power to cause her to offer effective resistance to the anti-christ drive for power.

The second role Babylon plays, seems incongruous to the first, much like the iron and clay feet of the image in Nebuchadnezzar’s vision of the fourth kingdom.  All over this fourth kingdom we find laced throughout these two parts that cannot be bonded together, even as light and darkness cannot unite.  While at the pinnacle of her power and wealth, she goes about making all manner of agreements with nation sin the name of peace and tranquility.

Ultimately her wealth appears in the hand of the anti-christ beast on which she rides.  For in Daniel 11:38 he honors a god of gold, silver and precious stones.  In Daniel 11:43, he shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver.  Since these are the standards on which our currency is based, this gives him a great deal of economic power over nations.

Babylon’s dealings with the anti-christ power in the cause of peace fall short of their goal.  The results of her agreement s with anti-christ power are written in the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.  Read it.

Revelation 17:6-7; 15-16

“And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.  And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.”

“And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.  And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.”

What kinds of dealings have taken place that would cause the blood of the martyrs of Jesus to be on the hands of Babylon?  American has not only been a safe haven but also a help to nations in need.  However, many of her trade agreements have put America at a disadvantage rather than the other nation involved.  America has agreed to many treaties, in the name of peace or cooperation or another noble premise.  However, few of these treaties served this intent.  Some peace treaties resulted in divisions of countries.  People were enslaved where an anti-christ government was given control.

There have been more Christian martyrs in this century than in all preceding centuries combined.  Most of these martyrs resulted from the stroke of a pen that gave them over to anti-christ government and sealed their doom.   History documents the treaty names and dates.  The impact of these treaties continues yet today.

America, a nation prepared by God as an end time safe haven for His church, made Bible reading, as the Word of God illegal.  Prayer in public school was outlawed in the 1960’s.  Prayer and Bible reading cannot occur in an organization funded by tax monies.  When this new interpretation of the law of the United States became the law of the land, America had taken an official step in her turn away from God.  The Bible is not a piece of literature.   It is the Word of God by which men are saved.  Otherwise law of man would not have restricted it.  Recently the United States Congress and Supreme Court have revisited the legislation banning Bible reading and prayer in public organizations.  This slight change in direction does not modify the judgment of God that will fall on America.  She has raised an entire generation void of Biblical roots.  America’s course was truly set with the official turn from God.

The role of Babylon as a rich and great power in the world is not separated from her original role as a safe haven.  While the people of God may be required to endure many things until Jesus comes at the rapture, He will not allow America to be destroyed with His people in her.  For God has stated in His Word as one angel cried:

Revelation 18:2-4

“And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.  For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”

All those who have been washed clean by the blood of the Lam of God will be taken out before the plagues.  It is much like God’s promise to Lot.  When the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah reached to heaven, God wanted those cities destroyed, but would not destroy Lot and his family.  He sent two angels to deliver them out of Sodom, (Genesis 19:15-16) before the cities were destroyed.

By the Word of God we have the same promise.  There is another point of similarity: the sin of Sodom is also in America.  Sodomy is legal in some states.  God will say to us, “Come out of her my people.”   Praise the Lord in Jesus Name.

Now, beloved children, instead of allowing a root of resentment to spring up, take this before God yourself and He will confirm His Word to you.  Our Father has already provided you with all boldness and power in the Holy Spirit to be a living epistle read by all men.  God will confirm His Word with signs, wonders and miracles as you share His love with others.  There still is time to bring in the harvest of souls into the kingdom.  God is not willing that anyone should perish.  If you need additional scriptures to motivate you, read more about Babylon: Revelation 14:8-20 and Revelation 18:1-24.  The judgment and fall of Babylon comes in one hour at the return of our Lord Jesus.

Revelation 14:8-20

“And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.  And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.  And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.  And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.  And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.  And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.  And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

Revelation 18:1-24

Rev 18:1 ”And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

Rev 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Rev 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

Rev 18:6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.

Rev 18:7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

Rev 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

Rev 18:9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,

Rev 18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

Rev 18:11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

Rev 18:12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

Rev 18:13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

Rev 18:14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.

Rev 18:15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

Rev 18:16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

Rev 18:17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

Rev 18:18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!

Rev 18:19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

Rev 18:20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

Rev 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Rev 18:22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;

Rev 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

Rev 18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”

Revelation 18:10b

“… for in one hour is thy judgment come.”

The economic power of Babylon reaches to all the seven continents of the world.  The beast of anti-christ government with seven heads and ten horns on which she rides will hate her.  Recall the ten kings that receive no kingdom as yet but receive power as kings (political leaders) because they agree and support the beast (Revelation 17:12-14).  These puppet governments are anti-christ and they destroy Babylon and make war against the Lamb.

As Babylon falls the worldwide economic system is affected.  There is no more concern about the balance of payments or straining for gross national product.

Revelation 18:11-13

“And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:  The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.”

No more shall the sound of music be heard in her, the sounds of industry nor the voice of the bridegroom and the bride.  Business and trade activity never were the basis of this Babylon’s power.  God was the author of it.  When she officially and by legal procedure turned from Him, the departure of all He had made possible was assured.   Since governments are in God’s hand, it makes a great deal of difference whether or not they honor God in their legal structures.

Pray for sincere repentance and win souls for Jesus.  Hold on to the blessings of God we still have and strengthen them.  Praise God in all things because He dwells in the praises of His people.
